Snow City Arts
Snow City Arts provides one-on-one instruction in the visual arts, creative writing, music, theater and media arts to patients at Rush University Children’s Hospital, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, and Children’s Hospital University of Illinois.
As doctors and nurses care for a child’s medical needs, Child Life specialists, therapists, social workers and other hospital employees address the psychosocial needs of hospitalized children. Snow City Arts augments those services in each hospital we serve by addressing a child’s developmental and educational needs through the arts. Our teaching artists typically work with an individual child at his or her bedside.
Snow City Arts was founded by Paul Sznewajs in 1998 through a seed grant from Ford Motor Company with a commitment to improve the healthcare experience for children in hospitals. These children are unable to get to the classroom because of illness — so we provide them with the educational outlets they definitively lack, and broaden their exposure to arts and culture.
To support, please mention the Snow City Arts to your server or bartender and Farmhouse Evanston will donate 20% of your dining experience to this wonderful cause.
